Infant Feeding

Feed your baby on demand; this is usually about every 2 1/2- 4 hours. If your baby sleeps more than 5 hours during the day, wake the baby for feedings.

Baby’s First Year

Age: Suggested foods to add:
Birth breast milk or iron-fortified formula. (such as Similac or Enfamil)
4-6 months infant cereal (rice, oats, or barley)
5-7 months vegetables and fruits. (strained/blended)
6-8 months cottage cheese, yogurt. strained beans, strained meats, chicken, or fish. egg yolks
7-9 months other infant cereals (wheat, mixed grains, or high protein). mashed fruits and vegetables , mild cheeses
8-9 months finger foods (toast squares, cooked vegetables in strips or slices); formula or juice from a cup
10-12 months Table foods
12 months commercial pasteurized milk (limit to no more than 24 ounces a day; wean from bottle or breast)
